- Broadcasts to move up four days at a set
time
Longs, SC—For the eighth consecutive year, the Hooters Pro Cup Series
will have all 30 of its races nationally broadcast on SPEED Channel in
2006.
But this year, the Hooters Pro Cup Series will
be moving from Saturday nights at 10 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays,
assuring the action-packed, tape-delayed broadcasts a consistent
schedule and allowing the fans to view the race just four days after
the events during the upcoming season.
"We are
delighted to have the Hooters Pro Cup Series back on SPEED for 2006,"
said Mike McNeil, Hooters Vice President of Marketing. "Our teams and
sponsors have told us that a consistent air time and getting the shows
on as quickly as possible are the most important considerations for
our TV plan. By airing on the Wednesday evening immediately after each
race, we have addressed these issues. The second air time at noon on
Friday also gives us a chance to showcase the series in our
restaurants during our busiest meal period of the week."
With the
multiple airings, Hooters Pro Cup Series’ drivers and sponsors will be
featured in 65.5 million homes for 120 hours during the 2006 season on
SPEED Channel alone.
"Our fans are
die-hard race fans, and most of them are at a local track on the
weekends," said Gene Cox, President of USAR. "With the Wednesday
airing, our fans can support the Hooters Pro Cup Series and their
local track. Plus, with nearly 400 restaurants nationwide and in-store
promotions, we will further increase the exposure of our series with
this new package."
In addition to
broadcasting two airings of each event during the 2006 season, SPEED
Channel will kick off the season with the airing of the "Hooters Pro
Cup Series Preseason Special" on Wed., Feb. 22 at 6 p.m.
"We are pleased
to welcome back the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series for another season of
exciting race action on SPEED. Robert Ecker, VP Programming SPEED
Channel. "As we enter our eighth consecutive year of collaboration, we
look forward to extending our relationship with USAR and further
growing the audience for the series."
Comcast Sports
and Urban America Television will continue to carry the Hooters Pro
Cup Series during the 2006 season. Dates and times of the airings on
the regional networks will be announced in the near future.
