The Jeremy Miller Racing team arrived at
Indianapolis Raceway Park Saturday morning with rain falling.
Fortunately for everyone, the rain stopped and the race weekend was
about to begin with very little delay. Practice started during
the afternoon and Jeremy took to the track to get every second of seat
time possible.

The car felt good right off the
trailer and Jeremy made only minor changes throughout the afternoon.
The car felt very comfortable to him. It was now just a matter
of running laps to get faster. During practice Jeremy had his
fastest time of 24.077 seconds which put him 35th on the list of 46
cars. He knew that it was going to take much more to get a solid
starting spot in the 36 car field for the
Lucas Oil 200. It was turning out that the most important
race of the weekend would be against time as ten cars would not make
the race.
With the pressure on, Jeremy's chance
finally came as he was the 40th car in line to qualify for the
evening. He knew what he had to do to make it in the race.
Jeremy laid down a comfortable lap on his first attempt at just over
24 seconds flat, but it wasn't going to make the race. The next
lap he got the job done by improving his time over three tenths of a
second laying down a 23.698 time. This guaranteed him a spot in
the field as he ended up in the 27th position. "We knew we were
on the bubble for qualifying into the race," Jeremy said. The
entire crew was very proud of his qualifying effort.

The team arrived back at the track on
Sunday morning ready for race day. There was plenty of work
ahead for the team and everyone got busy quickly. Unfortunately,
Jeremy got himself too busy and missed the mandatory driver's meeting.
This would relegate him to the rear of the field for the start of the
race. The team didn't skip a beat and started figuring out how
to use that to their advantage.
During the pace laps, Jeremy pulled
to the pits to have the crew remove tape from the front duct work that
had been put on for qualifying. This made for a free pit stop
before the race to make sure everything was ready for the 200 lap
event. Jeremy rejoined at the end of the field and took the
green flag.

Jeremy ran well all day during the
Lucas Oil 200. He did his job avoiding accidents on multiple
occasions throughout the day. His closest call was when Jimmy
Spencer, Jr. smacked the wall coming out of turn 4 just ahead of
Jeremy at lap 29. He got by Spencer unscathed. He used
cautions throughout the day to adjust on the car and make it as good
as possible. With just over 50 laps to go, the crew put on new
right side tires for Jeremy to finish the race. He ran strong to
the end and held off a late race charge from Leslie Law taking the
checkered flag for a 20th place finish. It was a great finish
for only his fifth asphalt race in a series with such high
competition.
"Overall it was a good weekend,"
Jeremy said. "I really have to thank
GETT Industries and
Schaus Vorhies Contracting. Their sponsorship is a
tremendous help."
Jeremy and his team will soon be
planning on their next race. Announcements will be made later
here on Jeremy-Miller.com. The next
USAR Hooters Pro Cup Northern Division race is on Saturday, May
28th at
Jennerstown Speedway in Jennerstown, PA. |
