Jeremy Miller and his team arrived at
Madison International Speedway in Wisconsin Friday morning for the
final race of the
USAR Hooters Pro Cup Northern Division schedule. Jeremy
really wanted to have a strong run at the Miller Lite 250 as he would
be qualified to attend the five race Championship Series.
The car's chassis had been updated since
the previous race with information from Laughlin Racing Products.
For the first time this year, Jeremy unloaded and started out
practice with a loose race car. Throughout practice the crew
made adjustments to tighten it up. At the end of practice
Jeremy had the car fairly comfortable with just a slight push.
He had posted his quickest time at 19.562 seconds. This put him
19th on the speed charts.
Jeremy was able to pick up one spot
during qualifying. He put himself 18th in the field nearly
matching his practice time with 19.566 seconds. He really wasn't
pleased with his qualifying effort. "I don't know if I drove in
too hard or what. I didn't get my turning points just right,"
Jeremy said.

When the green flag dropped, Jeremy
was able to run with the field despite the push that was still in the
race car. However, early in the race the leader had just caught
Jeremy on the track and apparently passed him just before a caution
came out. Being told he was to get his lap back, Jeremy advanced
around the race track. USAR officials, however, said that Jeremy
had been lapped and was also going to be penalized for advancing past
the pace car. This would put him down early in the night.

Even after the penalty, Jeremy
continued to race hard as he knew it was going to be a long race.
He had the ability to move up the standings as long as he continued.
Around lap 120 the caution flag flew again and Jeremy was able to come
in for right side tires and fuel. This made him ready to run to
the end. The car's strength was evident as Jeremy ran well even
with the leaders throughout the night. He made sure to never
impede the lead lap cars, but enjoyed being able to race along side
them. "The penalty put us down, but it was still fun to run
along side Gary St. Amant and those guys for a while."
Despite the early penalty, Jeremy
would once again see the checkered flags and finish in the 13th
position. Along with another top 15 finish, Jeremy ended the
season 28th in points qualifying him for the 2005 Championship Series.
This was a good accomplishment having only raced a partial season.
Jeremy has not yet decided whether to
try running in the Championship Series. Final plans and
announcements will be posted here at Jeremy-Miller.com as they
are determined.
