| April 3, 2004 - Jeremy headed to the
Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, IA for his first dirt stock car
race of the season. Saturday was the second of the two nights of
racing showcasing the
USMTS modified series. Jeremy started on the pole position for his
heat race. He lead from green to checkers winning with ease.
The time out front gave him a good opportunity to find the best line
around the track, which was full of ruts and holes. After his heat
race, the top qualifiers had to draw for their feature race starting
positions. Jeremy drew the third starting spot, setting him up for
a good feature race.
Starting inside the second row, Jeremy raced hard from the start of
the feature race. He ran in the top five for the entire race.
However, many cautions kept the pace slow. Jeremy was also having
problems with the motor bogging down on restarts, causing him to lose
ground each time. Each restart would take him one to two laps to
regain his position.
Due to many cautions and a high attrition rate, the race was cut
short from 20 laps to just 15 laps. Jeremy lost a couple positions
on the final restart and raced hard to a fourth place finish. "I
needed those last few laps and I could have gotten back up to second
place," Jeremy said.
Overall it was a good night of racing. Jeremy will now put his
attention towards getting his number 18
Hooters Pro Cup car ready for the Northern Division's first race on
April 17th at
Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway in Virginia. |
