September 27, 2003 - Saturday night Jeremy returned to the Adams County Speedway in Corning, IA for The Tradition. Having won the inaugural race in 1999, Jeremy's goal is to become the first repeat winner of The Tradition. The night started out very well. Jeremy started on the pole position in his heat race and led the entire race. This not only qualified him for the 40 lap feature race, but also put him into the dash race where he could help determine his feature race starting position. The dash race consisted of all six heat race winners. However, reminiscent of last week at Scotland County Speedway, Jeremy fell back with a deflating right rear tire finishing in the fifth position. The dash race winner decided to take his money for winning the race and invert the six drivers' starting position for the 40 lap feature race. This put Jeremy outside the front row to start the feature. The Tradition feature race is setup in two 20 lap segments with a ten minute break after lap 20. The top six cars are then inverted to start the second 20 lap segment. Jeremy finished the first 20 lap segment in fourth place. The car was running strong and he requested only to have fuel added and no other changes made to the car. He then started the second segment in third place. Jeremy moved back to fourth place, but was running well. With just over ten laps to go, a caution came out and a problem quickly developed with the car. Jeremy came into the pits and found that the axle housing on the rear-end had broken. This made his night come to an end finishing in the 23rd position. Jeremy will return next weekend, October 4th, to the Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, MO for the Mid-West Challenge. |
