September 13, 2003 - Friday night, September 12th, was night number one of the Fall Challenge at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, IA. It proved to be a very good night of racing for Jeremy Miller. Another high car count showed lots of racing with a lineup of 305 wingless sprint cars, hobby stocks, stock cars and modifieds. Jeremy's night started out very well as he won his heat race, which qualified him for the A main to be run later that night. The car looked and ran very well with only Bobby Greiner, Jr. of Ottumwa challenging him. However, Greiner fell out of competition with a flat tire. Jeremy then drew a fifth place starting position for the A main. When the A main started, he immediately jumped to the fourth position and quickly worked himself up to the third spot. Then, approximately half way through the race, he moved into second place as the car ahead of him made a mistake. With just two laps to go, Jeremy was the next to make a small mistake, moving him back to third place. Coming to the checkered flag, Jeremy got underneath the second place car and went across the finish line side by side. He was scored as the third place finisher, missing second place by just a few feet. Night two at the Fall Challenge was unfortunately rained out. Jeremy was secured a starting spot in the A main with his Friday night third place finish. Jeremy will next race on Saturday night, September 20th in the All-Star 100 at the Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, MO. |
