May 17, 2003 - MGM Motorsports was unable to qualify for the Glass City 300 in Toledo, OH. The team started the day with a good car setup which allowed lap times to be competitive. The team's starting point has improved greatly since the opening of the ASA 2003 racing season. With Jeremy's input, adjustments were made to the car throughout the two practice sessions during Saturday in an effort for quicker lap times. Improvement was made throughout the day and Jeremy was able to pick up more speed.
Unfortunately, during the final practice session, Jeremy drove the car into the third turn and lost control. The car spun around and hit the wall damaging the rear-end and left front suspension. The MGM Motorsports crew quickly went to work assessing the damage and finding replacement parts in the attempt to have the car ready for qualifying. Crew chief Darrin Jeffrey and Jeremy were able to find the necessary parts and orchestrate the repair process. The car was presented to the technical inspection process and qualified as a second round qualifier. Unfortunately, the speed was not high enough to qualify for the race. Again a special thank you must be given to Jim Randerson of Randercar Racing Enterprises. Jim is always quick to give good advice and help greatly when the team is in need. Jeremy and the team will now move on to the Iowa 300 at Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids, IA. The race will be televised live on SPEED Channel Saturday, May 24th at 9:00 PM EST. The team hopes that the two previous tests at Hawkeye Downs will prove helpful for the weekend. |
